Crafty Chick's Weekly Challenge #3

This week I chose the challenge for everyone.  I wanted to do something different and also be cost-conscious (ski trip on Tuesday!!!).  So my challenge was to make 10 tags, use your favorite color, use something shiny, and to recycle (we weren’t allowed to buy anything.)  So I changed my mind about a dozen times between when I came up with the challenge and today.  After seeing all the other wonderful tags the ladies have made, I knew I needed to step up my game.

My favorite colors are pink and blue.  Which one to choose????  Why not do both?  I needed a birthday tag for a Eli’s present, so I made 5 blue birthday tags.  I have a girl’s birthday to get ready for in a few weeks, so I made 5 pink tags.  I used a cute little cupcake stamp and used pearl paint.  I used a Tim Holtz technique where you blend different inks over the paint and then wipe off the ink and the paint shows up as a resist.  So for the pink tags I used Tim Holtz Victorian Velvet and Aged Mahogony and Memento Rose Bud.  For the blue tags I used Tim Holtz inks again: Tumbled Glass, Stormy Sky, and Faded Jeans.

After I did the inks, I decided to make the whole thing shiny with Glimmer Mists (LOVE them!!!)  For the pink tags I used Vintage Pink and Santa Baby.  For the blue tags I used Bubble and Denim Blue.  Look at them shine!

So then I needed to add sentiments.  I used CTMH black ink and a little Happy Birthday stamp and then used a Nestibility to cut out the frames.  Then I edged the frames in the same colors I inked with.  I stamped the To/From in CTMH red on the pink tags and Faded Jeans on the blue ones.  They were finished off with ribbon from my stash.  I think the pink ribbon is just right!

So, Yay! I finished the challenge!  It seems to have been as much of a challenge for me as everyone else.  I can’t wait to see what Jenn W. has in store for us next week.  I will have to finish that one after I get back from skiing.
